August marked the end of our latest placement year, and, with it, we wished Anisah Alam and Abigail Harvey the best of luck as they returned to university for their final year.
Although it was sad to see them go, every cloud has its silver lining and, with the departure of Anisah and Abigail, we brought in two new placements students for the year ahead.
We are delighted to welcome Susie Moore and Isobel Forward to the firm.
Meet the new recruits…
Susie completed a two-year law degree at Bournemouth University, and joins our team in Christchurch where she’ll assist our Employment and Insolvency departments, before returning to the university next year.
Prior to her studies, Susie worked at both the Magistrates’ Courts and Bournemouth Crown Court, before deciding to re-train as a solicitor.
“I am delighted to be undertaking my placement year at Frettens.
Throughout my first two years of university, I have had the pleasure of meeting the Firm through various networking events and presentations the Firm have given and felt very sure when the time came to apply for placement, I wanted to spend a year in the industry with them.
Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly, and I am really looking forward to putting into practice some of what I have learned throughout my degree.”
Isobel is currently undertaking a LLB law degree at Bournemouth University, and has picked up experience in a variety of legal areas including, criminal, family, wills & tax and property.
At Frettens, she’ll focus on the last of those service areas, assisting our Residential Conveyancing team in Christchurch.
“I am very excited to be starting my placement year with Frettens.
I have received a very walm welcome, and an in-depth introduction in my first few days, this helped me settle in and feel comfortable in the work I will be completing, knowing everybody is there to help everyone allows all to succeed.
I was drawn to Frettens by the approachability of the firm, this led me to find out how the firm are ambitious and progressive. This is an amazing opportunity to build my knowledge and progress in my career.”
Matthew Fretten on the latest cohort
“We are thrilled to welcome both Susie and Isobel to Frettens at a really exciting time for the firm.” said Managing Partner Matthew Fretten.
“The placement programme is something we have supported at Frettens for a while now and, alongside our graduate scheme, it forms a big part of our growth strategy.
Susie and Isobel look to be a perfect fit for us, and they are just two of the many hires we are set to make this summer.”
Matthew Fretten on the placement programme
“The placement programme is a win-win for all parties involved.” Matthew continued.
“Not only do the students make a significant impact on the departments they are stationed in, but the work they do gives them invaluable experience ahead of their final year.”
How does the placement programme work?
Our one-year Placement Programme provides law students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in the legal world in between their studies.
As part of the programme, students are given the chance to take on a variety of work, potentially in multiple legal departments, to supply them with a great grounding for all areas of law.
