Frettens has yet again been recognised as a leading law firm on the South Coast in the Legal 500, the UK’s largest and most in-depth survey of the legal market.

In the latest Legal 500 rankings for 2024/25, every single eligible department at Frettens is now recommended, based on our client feedback and casework.

Our Rankings

In this years’ rankings, Frettens have been recognised for more departments than ever before, including:

Matthew Fretten on this years’ ‘huge’ results

“To have all eligible departments recommended in this years’ Legal 500 is fantastic, and we are so pleased to have improved on our results from 2023.” said Managing Partner Matthew Fretten.

“Client feedback is so important to us, as it allows us to reflect, review and improve our services. This latest recommendation from the Legal 500, based on such client feedback, is a testament to the hard work we’ve put in over this past year.

Thank you to our wonderful clients who left such glowing testimonials!”

Who was recommended?

In total, more than sixteen members of staff are recommended in this years’ Legal 500.

Commercial Services

From our Commercial Litigation Team, Michelle Hayter, Anna Curtis and Olivia Parkinson have been recognised for their 'clear and accurate advice', 'attention to detail' and their sublime commitment to clients. Michelle was also recommended for Contentious Probate.

In Commercial Property, Oonagh McKinney, Ben Cobb, Sarah Heath, Hannah Martin and Patsy Whitford were named as a ‘safe pair of hands’, following a year of large-scale transactions and deals. Ben and Oonagh were also mentioned for their efforts in Social Housing.

Karen Edwards and Matthew Fretten in our Corporate & Commercial Team were recommended once again, receiving a mention for their ‘excellent’, ‘invaluable’ advice and ‘pro-activity’ throughout the year.

Having joined the firm in late 2023, Michelle Kemp arrived just in time to be included in this years’ Employment rankings, featuring alongside Chris Dobbs for their ‘enthusiasm’ and ‘client-focused approach’.

Thanks to Malcolm Niekirk’s efforts, we were described as a ‘firm to watch’ in Insolvency.

Personal Services

As for our personal services, both our Wills & Tax and Family teams were recognised.

James Hammersley was described as ‘professional’, ‘efficient’ and ‘engaging’, with Andrew Stynes’ and Simon Immins’ team labelled as ‘a busy and thriving department’ that ‘serves the local community’.

Matthew Fretten on the team’s recognition

“We’re proud to see that so many members of staff have been recommended in this years’ results, some for the first time.”  Matthew continues.

“Their recognition speaks to the hard work they have put in over this past year. They are all thoroughly deserving of their placement.”
