Family Business Club

The Family Business Club is run by Frettens with Princecroft Willis and Natwest for people running family owned businesses.   Family Business Club hosts Frettens and Princecroft Willis will offer some practical advice for Family Businesses.

Bringing seasonal colour to thousands of homes this Christmas More than 100,000 Poinsettias will be on the shelves of one of the UK's biggest DIY chains from early December Join us for a tour of the state of the art glasshouses (we suggest no suits or shiny shoes or you may be disappointed)!

Founded in 1959 by Derf and Jean Paton, with just one mobile glasshouse, Pinetops Nurseries now has an annual turnover of more than £1 million.

Derf Paton passed away in 2010 but his sons Rory, Ian and Stuart are involved in the business along with Jean.

Apart from Poinsettias, Pinetops also supplies Lilies and Hellebores to some of the UK's best-known retailers and nursery groups. In the past the cost of heating the glasshouses for the firm’s autumn Poinsettias had limited profitability from the crop, however replacing gas heating with biomass has made a huge difference.

The nursery is also well-known for its giant Pumpkins. This year it set a new record for the UK’s heaviest Pumpkin grown indoors with a 160.9 stone (1,021 kg) vegetable. Rory said: "Growing is in our blood. We're lucky because Ian and Stuart are brilliant growers while my passion is more for logistics and numbers. We balance each other out nicely."

We hope that you will be able to join us

If you run a family business and would be interested in attending, please let us know.

The Family Business Club Objective:

The objective of our club is to create a confidential forum for family businesses, to hear from other successful family business leaders and to discuss issues and challenges specific to the family business. As hosts, we are passionate about family businesses and our role is to organise the meetings and to act as a sounding board for attendees, providing support and guidance at every step of the development of a family business.
