In this article, Commercial Property Specialist Charlie Bennett discusses how Heads of Terms work, whether they’re legally binding and what to look out for when negotiating.
I am one of the 'veterans' in the firm now, having joined as a newly qualified solicitor of less than two years' qualifications at the beginning of 2009, and have worked my way up through Associateship, Head of Department to becoming a Partner in July 2021.
Despite being a medium sized firm for many years, it still retains its ‘family’ feel, with everyone getting on well and supporting one another. I can honestly say it is the only place I have ever worked where there are no ‘politics’ in the office. I have only been ‘flexibly working’ since the pandemic started, but I have to say it works really well for me and it has actually led me to be more productive.
My advice to someone applying for a position here is...
"Be yourself and take an active interest in both the firm and the people who work there. If you are taken on then you will have the qualifications required, but the difference is made with your personality and drive."
